Copy your env file:\n\n   ```bash\n   cp .env.example .env  # then edit values\n\n   ```\n\n2. Start the dev server with live reload:\n\n   ```bash\n   docker compose up web-dev\n   ```\n\n- The app runs at http://localhost:3000\n- Source is bind-mounted; changes trigger instant reload (Turbopack)\n- Container uses its own node_modules for consistency\n\n### Production (standalone image)\n\nBuild and run the minimal runner image:\n\n```bash\n# Build the prod image\ndocker build --target runner -t vitae:latest .\n\n# Run with runtime envs from .env\ndocker run --rm -p 3000:3000 --env-file .env vitae:latest\n```\n\nOr via Compose:\n\n```bash\ndocker compose build web\ndocker compose up -d web\n```\n\n### Environment variables\n\n- Secrets are NOT baked into the image. `.env` files are ignored by Docker context via `.dockerignore`.\n- For runtime configuration, use `--env-file .env` (as in the examples) or `-e KEY=value`.\n- For client-exposed variables (`NEXT_PUBLIC_*`) that must be inlined at build time, prefer setting explicit build args in the Dockerfile and pass them with `--build-arg`.
