It uses Docker Compose for easy orchestration.\n\n---\n\n## 📂 Project Structure\n\n```\n.\n├── docker-compose.yml   # Compose file to start all services\n├── apps/                # Your Spark / PySpark jobs (mounted into containers)\n├── data/                # Data shared between Spark services\n├── requirements.txt     # Python dependencies for Jupyter\n```\n\n---\n\n## ⚙️ Services\n\n### 1️⃣ Spark Master\n\n-   **Image:** `bitnami/spark:3.5.0`\n-   **Ports:**\n\n    -   `8080` → Spark Master Web UI (`http://localhost:8080`)\n    -   `7077` → Spark Master RPC (cluster communication)\n\n-   **Environment:**\n\n    -   Runs in `master` mode.\n    -   Exposes itself as `spark://spark-master:7077`.\n\n-   **Volumes:**\n\n    -   `./apps → /opt/spark-apps`\n    -   `./data → /opt/spark-data`\n\n---\n\n### 2️⃣ Spark Workers (2 replicas)\n\n-   **Image:** `bitnami/spark:3.5.0`\n-   **Mode:** Worker\n-   **Connects to:** `spark://spark-master:7077`\n-   **Environment:**\n\n    -   `SPARK_WORKER_MEMORY=2000m`\n    -   `SPARK_DRIVER_MEMORY=2000m`\n\n-   Scale up/down by adding more workers in `docker-compose.yml`.\n\n---\n\n### 3️⃣ Jupyter Notebook\n\n-   **Image:** `jupyter/pyspark-notebook:latest`\n-   **Port:** `8888 → localhost:8888`\n-   **Volumes:**\n\n    -   `./apps → /home/jovyan/work` (your notebooks and scripts)\n    -   `./requirements.txt → /tmp/requirements.txt` (extra dependencies)\n\n-   **Environment:**\n\n    -   Configured to connect directly to the Spark cluster:\n\n        ```\n        SPARK_MASTER=spark://spark-master:7077\n        SPARK_LOCAL_IP=jupyter\n        SPARK_DRIVER_HOST=jupyter\n        SPARK_DRIVER_BIND_ADDRESS=0.0.0.0\n        ```\n\n---\n\n## ▶️ Usage\n\n### 1. Start the cluster\n\n```bash\ndocker compose up -d\n```\n\n### 2. Access UIs\n\n-   **Spark Master UI:** [http://localhost:8080](http://localhost:8080)\n-   **Jupyter UI:** [http://localhost:8888](http://localhost:8888)\n\nJupyter will give you a token URL (e.g. `http://127.0.0.1:8888/?token=...`).\n\n---\n\n## 📦 Installing Custom Python Packages\n\n1. Add dependencies to `requirements.txt`.\n2. Rebuild or restart Jupyter:\n\n    ```bash\n    docker exec -it jupyter pip install -r /tmp/requirements.txt\n    ```\n\n3. To make installs persistent, bake them into a custom Jupyter image or add them to `requirements.txt`.\n\n---\n\n## ⚡ Connecting to Spark in Jupyter\n\nExample code in notebook:\n\n```python\nfrom pyspark.sql import SparkSession\n\nspark = (\n    SparkSession.builder\n    .appName(\"ExampleApp\")\n    .master(\"spark://spark-master:7077\")\n    .config(\"spark.executor.memory\", \"1G\")\n    .config(\"spark.driver.memory\", \"1G\")\n    .getOrCreate()\n)\n\nprint(spark.version)\n```\n\n---\n\n## ❗ Python Version Mismatch (Important)\n\n-   Jupyter (`pyspark-notebook`) uses **Python 3.12**.\n-   Spark workers (`bitnami/spark`) use **Python 3.11**.\n-   This causes errors like:\n\n    ```\n    PySparkRuntimeError: [PYTHON_VERSION_MISMATCH]\n    ```\n\n### 🔧 Fix Options\n\n1. **Quick fix:** Use Python **3.11 kernel** in Jupyter (pin version in Conda).\n2. **Long-term fix:** Rebuild Spark worker images with Python **3.12** to match Jupyter.\n\n---\n\n## 🔑 Setting Jupyter Password Instead of Token\n\n1. Create a password hash:\n\n    ```bash\n    python -c \"from notebook.auth import passwd; print(passwd())\"\n    ```\n\n    Example: `sha1:abcd1234...`\n\n2. Add it to your Jupyter service in `docker-compose.yml`:\n\n    ```yaml\n    environment:\n        - JUPYTER_TOKEN=\n        - JUPYTER_PASSWORD=sha1:abcd1234...\n    ```\n\n3.
