In Python, you need to\neither install [PyQt](https://www.riverbankcomputing.com/software/pyqt/download)\nor [PySide](https://doc.qt.io/qtforpython-6/).  \nThe default installation **will not install** any of these backends, you have\nto select one on your own.\n\nOptionally, you can install `imseqvis` with a specific backend. Currently,\n`pyqt5`, `pyqt6`, `pyside2`, and `pyside6` are supported:\n```bash\n# PyQt5\npython3 -m pip install \"imseqvis[pyqt5]\"\n\n# OR PyQt6\npython3 -m pip install \"imseqvis[pyqt6]\"\n\n# OR PySide2\npython3 -m pip install \"imseqvis[pyside2]\"\n\n# OR PySide6\npython3 -m pip install \"imseqvis[pyside6]\"\n```\n\nIn order to use PySide, the environmental variable `QT_DRIVER` should be set (as\nthis will be checked by `qimage2ndarray`). For example, to use `pyside6`:\n```python\nimport os\nos.environ['QT_DRIVER'] = 'PySide6'\n...\nimseqvis.show_sequence(...)\n```\n\n### Usage as Standalone Application\nTo quickly visualize all images within a folder or sequence (and nothing else),\nyou can use the provided wrappers to start a standalone GUI application:\n```bash\npython3 -m imseqvis path/to/image-folder\n```\n\nOr start the viewer from within your code, either specifically for a folder\nor iterable image sequence (*i.e.* a random access container of NumPy [ndarrays](https://numpy.org/doc/stable/reference/generated/numpy.ndarray.html)):\n```python\nimport imseqvis\n# Show all images in the given folder.\nimseqvis.show_folder('path/to/image-folder')\n\n# Show all images in a random access container. For an exemplary data source\n# refer to `imseqvis.sequence_viewer.ImageSequence`.\nsequence = [...]\nimseqvis.show_sequence(sequence)\n```\n\nAlternatively, you could simply use the provided `show` functionality:\n```python\nimport imseqvis\nimseqvis.show('path/to/image-folder')\n\nsequence = [...]\nimseqvis.show(sequence)\n```\n\n### Usage as Widget\nTo integrate the viewer into your own application, use the `ImageSequenceViewer`\nwidget:\n```python\n# Prepare the image data source. This must allow random access to the images.\n# For an exemplary data source refer to\n# `imseqvis.sequence_viewer.ImageSequence`.\nsequence = [...]\n\n# Create \u0026 use the widget.\nviewer = SequenceViewer(image_sequence=sequence)\nlayout.addWidget(viewer)\n...\n\n# Alternatively, the widget can also be created without a data source:\nviewer = SequenceViewer(image_sequence=None)\n...\n# Later on, the image sequence can be set via:\nviewer.setSequence(new_sequence)\n```\n\nTo show a different sequence within the same viewer, simply call:\n```python\nviewer.setSequence(new_sequence)\n```\n\nMore detailed usage examples are provided within `examples/`.
