Kafmesh\n\nKafmesh is a [Kafka] streaming and observability framework built for go. It's\nbuilt using [Goka] and generates strongly-typed wrappers to Goka's streaming\nconcepts that are easy to write and unit-test.\n\nTODO: note on requirement for protocol buffers\n\n## Features\n\n  * **gRPC-like code generation for streaming services**\n\n    Kafmesh components are defined in yaml files and generated via\n    `kafmesh-gen`. The generated code makes it easy to unit test streaming\n    services.\n\n  * **Discovery api to aggregate multiple running services into a single view**\n\n    Kafmesh defines discovery via a grpc service. All running services\n    implement this api and will respond with the parts of the service that\n    are currently running in process.\n\n  * **Stream visualizer and reading with kafql**\n\n## Getting Started\n\n### Installation\n\nInstall the kafmesh generator by using:\n\n`go get -u github.com/syncromatics/kafmesh/cmd/kafmesh-gen`\n\nYou will also need [protoc](http://google.github.io/proto-lens/installing-protoc.html)\nand you will need to install protoc-gen-go `go get -u github.com/golang/protobuf/protoc-gen-go`\n\n### Concepts\n\nA kafmesh service is built from components that have specific functions. A\ncomponent is made up of different streaming objects\n\n  * **Source**\n\n    A source is how data gets into kafka. This could be from a grpc service\n    getting information from different sources, such as clicks from a\n    webpage, gps positions from vehicles, anything you would need. This is a\n    strongly typed wrapper around the [Goka\n    Emitter](https://github.com/lovoo/goka#concepts) concept\n\n* **Processor**\n\n  A processor is where the bulk of the stream processing takes place. This is\n  a strongly typed wrapper around the [Goka\n  Processor](https://github.com/lovoo/goka#concepts) concept.\n\n* **View**\n\n  A view is a look into what kafka is storing for a particular topic. It takes a feed from a kafka topic and provides a key/value datastore.
