This document explains how to install and configure the data source plugin, and use it as a time-series database. We'll take a look at the data source options, variables, querying, and other options specific to this data source. \n\nAt first, please refer to [Add a data source](https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/datasources/add-a-data-source/) for instructions on how to add a data source to Grafana. Note that, only users with the organization admin role can add data sources.\n\nTo install this plugin, please refer to [Install the Grafana Plugin for TDengine](https://github.com/taosdata/grafanaplugin/blob/master/INSTALLATION.md)\n\n## Usage\n\nNow it's ready for you to add your own TDengine data source and use it in a dashboard. Refer to [Grafana Datasource documentations topic - Add a data source](https://grafana.com/docs/grafana/latest/datasources/add-a-data-source/) for a quick view. Grafana 8.0 versions\n\n    The TDengine data source plugin has added functionality for Grafana 8.0 versions, which can automatically import and clear alerts for basic metrics of the TDengine cluster (such as CPU, memory, dnode, vnode, etc.) when adding data sources.\n\n    To import the Dashboard, enter \"TDinsight for 3.x Dashboard\" and click save. TDengine data source plugin uses secureJsonData to store sensitive data. It will cause a breaking change when you're upgrading from an older version:\n\n    The simple way to migrate from older version is to reconfigure the data source like adding a data source from scratch.\n\n    If you're using Grafana provisioning configurations, you should change the data source provisioning configuration file to use `secureJsonData`:\n\n    ```yaml\n    apiVersion: 1\n    datasources:\n      # \u003cstring, required\u003e name of the datasource. Required\n    - name: TDengine\n      # \u003cstring, required\u003e datasource type. Required\n      type: tdengine-datasource\n      # \u003cstring, required\u003e access mode. direct or proxy. Required\n      # \u003cint\u003e org id. will default to orgId 1 if not specified\n      orgId: 1\n      \n      # \u003cstring\u003e url to TDengine rest api, eg. http://td1:6041\n      url: \"$TDENGINE_API\"\n\n      # \u003cbool\u003e mark as default datasource. Max one per org\n      isDefault: true\n\n      # \u003cmap\u003e \n      secureJsonData:\n        # \u003cstring\u003e a redundant url configuration. Required.\n        url: \"$TDENGINE_API\"\n        # \u003cstring\u003e basic authorization token. Required, can be build like\n        #   `printf root:taosdata|base64`\n        basicAuth: \"${TDENGINE_BASIC_AUTH}\"\n        # \u003cstring\u003e cloud service token of TDengine,  optional.\n        token: \"$TDENGINE_CLOUD_TOKEN\"\n   \n      version: 1\n      # \u003cbool\u003e allow users to edit datasources from the UI.\n      editable: true\n    ```\n\n2.
