We strive to make the specification easy to implement, so if you come\nacross any inconsistencies or experience any difficulty, do let us know by\nsending an email, or by reporting an issue in the `specification repo\n\u003chttps://github.com/theupdateframework/specification/issues\u003e`_.\n\n\nLicense\n-------\n\nThis work is distributed under the Community Specification License\nPlease see `LICENSE.md\n\u003chttps://github.com/theupdateframework/specification/blob/master/LICENSE.md\u003e`_.\n\nVersioning\n----------\n\nThe TUF specification uses `Semantic Versioning 2.0.0 \u003chttps://semver.org/\u003e`_\n(semver) for its version numbers, and a gitflow-based release management:\n\n- The 'master' branch of this repository always points to the latest stable\n  version of the specification.\n- The 'draft' branch of this repository always points to the latest development\n  version of the specification and must always be based off of the latest\n  'master' branch.\n- Contributors must submit changes as pull requests against these branches,\n  depending on the type of the change (see semver rules).\n- For patch-type changes, pull requests may be submitted directly against the\n  'master' branch.\n- For major- and minor-type changes, pull requests must be submitted against\n  the 'draft' branch.\n- Maintainers may, from time to time, decide that the 'draft' branch is ready\n  for a new major or minor release, and submit a pull request from 'draft'\n  against 'master'.\n- Before merging a branch with 'master' the 'last modified date' and 'version'\n  in the specification header must be bumped.\n- Merges with 'master' that originate from the 'draft' branch must bump either\n  the major or minor version number.\n- Merges with 'master' that originate from any other branch must bump the patch\n  version number.\n- Merges with 'master' must be followed by a git tag for the new version\n  number.\n- Merges with 'master' must be followed by a rebase of 'draft' onto 'master'.\n\nKeep track of new TUF releases\n------------------------------\n\nThere's a reusable workflow that can be used by projects to keep track of\nnew TUF specification releases.
