In fact, the web code and the default set of skins is copied from ETS2 Telemetry Mobile Dashboard.\n\n## Installation\n\nFirst, install [pyets2_telemetry](https://github.com/thomasa88/pyets2_telemetry) for Python plug-in support.\n\nThen, download the latest release archive (`.tar.bz2`) from the [release page](https://github.com/thomasa88/pyets2_telemetry_server/releases) and unpack it in the ETS2 `plugins` directory (typically `\"$HOME/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Euro Truck Simulator 2/bin/linux_x64/plugins\"`).\n\nThe unpacked file structure should look similar to this:\n\n```\nEuro Truck Simulator 2\n└── bin\n    └── linux_x64\n        └── plugins\n            └── python\n                └── pyets2_telemetry_server\n                    ├── Html\n                    ├── __init__.py\n                    ├── LICENSE\n                    ├── signalr\n                    ├── version.py\n                    └── web_server.py\n```\n\nAfter starting the game, the dashboard should be available at [http://localhost:25555]().\n\n![ETS2 and pyets2_telemetry_server running](screenshot.png)\n\n## Usage\n\npyets2_telemetry_server is used as follows:\n\n1. Start the game.\n\n2. From another device, navigate to `http://\u003cCOMPUTER-IP\u003e:25555` in a web browser. You should see the dashboard selection screen.\n3. Select a dashboard.\n4. Truck!\n\n### Hermit Lite App (Android)\n\n[Hermit](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chimbori.hermitcrab) makes small Android \"apps\" from web pages. It can be used to create a dashboard app, as follows:\n\n1. Install [Hermit Lite](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chimbori.hermitcrab) on your Android device.\n2. Make sure that ETS2 is running on your computer.\n3. Open Hermit, press *Create* at the bottom and then *Create Your Own* at the top.\n4. Enter the URL `http://\u003cCOMPUTER-IP\u003e:25555` (or the URL going directly to your favorite skin). The dashboard page should be shown.\n5. Enter a name for the app and press *Create.*\n6. Drag in the menu from the right and select *Frameless* and then *Full-screen*. Accept to restart the app.\n7. Finally, open the base *Hermit* app again, find your app in the list, press *⋮* and *Add to Home Screen*.\n8. Done!\n\n## Compatibility\n\npyets2_telemetry_server has been tested with Euro Truck Simulator 2 version 1.35 on Ubuntu 18.04, with Python 3.6.\n\n## Performance\n\nNo apparent decrease of FPS has been observed, as compared to playing ETS2 without this plug-in.\n\n## Client/Server Communication - SignalR\n\nThe client and server communicate using the [SignalR](https://dotnet.microsoft.com/apps/aspnet/real-time) protocol, sending objects encoded as JSON.\n\npyets2_telemetry_server implements a limited set of SignalR functionality, just enough to make the dashboard web client work. Only a simple version of the *Long Polling* transport is supported.\n\nThe dashboard protocol has the following function calls:\n\n* client-to-server\n  * `RequestData()` Server returns all telemetry data.\n* server-to-client\n  * `UpdateData()` Server sends all telemetry data.\n\n### Client Tweaks\n\nThe original dashboard client, upon receiving data from `UpdateData()`, immediately calls `UpdateData()`, which results in the data being fetched twice every time. This call has been removed, as the client seems to work fine without it.\n\n## Future Improvements\n\nThe following might need improvement in the future:\n\n* If game performance is affected negatively,\n  * change from using Python threads to Python multiprocessing (process fork) and/or\n  * reduce data processing in the main thread.\n\n* Add support for the dashboard `truck.user*` attributes, which provides information on current user control input.\n\n* Support multiple clients correctly. Current server might miss to send data updates to all clients, when there are multiple clients.\n* Avoid leaking client information upon client disconnection.\n* Fix server name displayed on the menu page. (Currently displayed as `%SERVER%`).\n\n## License\n\nRefer to the [LICENSE](LICENSE) file.\n\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fthomasa88%2Fpyets2_telemetry_server","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Fthomasa88%2Fpyets2_telemetry_server","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fthomasa88%2Fpyets2_telemetry_server/lists"}
