Source notebooks can be found [here](https://github.com/timstaley/voevent-parse/tree/master/documentation/source/tutorial).\nThis repo is preserved solely to avoid breaking external links.\n\nOld content follows...\n\n------------------------------------------------------------\n\n#Getting started with voevent-parse\n\nThis tutorial should get you up and running with \n[voevent-parse](http://voevent-parse.readthedocs.org/), \nso that you can work effectively with the \n[VOEvent](http://wiki.ivoa.net/twiki/bin/view/IVOA/IvoaVOEvent#VOEvent) \ndata format. \nIt also covers some of the basics on \n[XML](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xml) and \n[lxml.objectify](http://lxml.de/objectify.html).\n\nThis tutorial is intended to accompany the \n[Notes on VOEvent](http://voevent.readthedocs.org). \nIf you're new to VOEvents, I suggest you read those pages first. \nBoth this tutorial, and the notes, were originally written to support the \nhands-on session at the \n[Hotwired Universe IV](http://lcogt.net/hotwired-iv-welcome/) \nconference, but should be accessible to anyone familiar with Python.\n\n##Requirements\n* [voevent-parse](http://voevent-parse.readthedocs.org/en/latest/intro.html#installation)\n* [IPython](http://ipython.org/install.html) \n  (IPython [notebook](http://ipython.org/notebook.html) strongly recommended, \n  but not essential.)\n\n##Running the code\nRun IPython Notebook from this directory and load up the notebooks. \nOr, if you prefer a regular (I)Python terminal, you can read through the \n``.py`` versions and copy-paste the code snippets as you go along.\n\n##Ready-made versions\nCan't be bothered to download this repo?
