TypeScript custom transformer that redirects function reference to the\nexports object.\n\nWhen targeting CommonJS as the module target, the TypeScript compiler attach\nall exported functions to the `module.exports` object. However, any reference\nto those functions are not modified, causing unexpected results when one tries\nto stub these functions in unit-tests. Consider this module:\n```ts\n/** foobar.ts */\n\nexport function foo() {\n  return \"foo\";\n}\n\nexport function bar() {\n  return foo() + \"bar\";\n}\n```\nwhich transpiles to:\n```js\n/** foobar.js */\n\nfunction foo() {\n  return \"foo\";\n}\nexports.foo = foo;\nfunction bar() {\n  return foo() + \"bar\";\n}\nexports.bar = bar;\n```\n\nLet's unit test this module. If `foo` is a function that triggers network activity\nor some other operation that we do not wish to exercise, it is common to stub\nit with a fake function.\n```js\n/** test_foobar.js */\n\nassert.strictEqual(foobar.bar(), \"foobar\"); // Pass\n\n// Use SinonJS to stub out the foo function\nsinon.replace(foobar, 'foo', sinon.fake.returns(\"bar\"));\n\nassert.strictEqual(foobar.bar(), \"barbar\"); // AssertionError! Actual: foobar\n```\n\nSinon works by overwriting the reference to a value on an object. The second\nassert failed because the `foo()` call in `bar` is referencing the said\nfunction directly rather than through the `module.exports` object. This package\nprovides a custom TypeScript transformer that emits the proper function call\n(ie `exports.foo()`) so that function stubbing works as expected.\n\n\n## Usage\n\nFirst install the package\n```sh\nyarn add ts-use-exports\n# or\nnpm install ts-use-exports\n```\n\nDepending on your toolchain, see one of the example setups below on using the\ncustom transformer.\n\n### ts-node\n\nts-node by default does not provide a program instance to custom transformers.\nWe will use `ttypescript` (install with `yarn add ttypescript`) to work around\nthis limitation.\n\n```js\n/** tsconfig.json */\n{\n  \"compilerOptions\": {\n    // ...\n    \"plugins\": [\n      { \"transform\": \"ts-use-exports\" }\n    ]\n  }\n}\n```\nThen invoke the ts-node binary with the ttypescipt compiler\n```\nts-node --compiler ttypescript\n```\n\nAlternatively, if you use ts-node programmatically,\n```js\nrequire('ts-node').register({\n  project: 'tsconfig.json',\n  compiler: 'ttypescript',\n});\n```\n\n### Webpack (with ts-loader / awesome-typescript-loader)\n\n```js\n/** webpack.config.js */\nconst tsUseExports = require('ts-use-exports');\n\nmodule.exports = {\n  // ...\n  module: {\n    rules: [\n      {\n        test: /\\.ts$/,\n        loader: 'ts-loader', // or 'awesome-typescript-loader'\n        options: {\n          getCustomTransformers: program =\u003e ({\n            before: [tsUseExports(program)],\n          }),\n        },\n      },\n    ],\n  },\n};\n```\n\n## Note\n\n* The module target must be CommonJS (either set explicity or implied by\n  `ES3`/`ES5` target).\n\n* The transformer currently does not produce the correct output if you alias\n  a function name.
