Work in progress.\r\nCreated by vlapsley.\r\n\r\n![Screenshot](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/vlapsley/australia/master/screenshot.png)\r\n\r\n[Discussion on Minetest Forums](https://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.php?f=9\u0026t=14412)\r\n\r\n## Inspiration\r\nThe inspiration for this mod is my home country, Australia.\r\nI've tried to bring the landscape and flora into the game of Minetest.\r\nEnjoy and think of visiting Australia next time you travel abroad.\r\n\r\n### Biomes\r\n#### Underground\r\nStone. No change from the default game.\r\n#### Mangroves\r\nThe mangroves of Queensland and Northern Territory. Watch out for crocodiles!\r\n#### Tasman Sea\r\nBeautiful sandy beaches. You will find lots of Brown and Giant Kelp.\r\n#### Great Australian Bight\r\nSandstone cliffs and wild ocean.\r\n#### Indian Ocean\r\nSandy beaches and dolphins.\r\n#### Great Barrier Reef\r\nThe most amazing coral reef off the coast of Queensland.\r\n#### Timor Sea\r\nWhite sand beaches and palm trees.\r\n#### Jarrah-Karri Forest\r\nThe south-west corner of Western Australia. Forests of Jarrah, Karri and Marri.\r\n#### Eastern Coasts\r\nAmazing beaches, the dazzling Illawarra Flame Tree in your garden, and a monstrous Moreton Bay Fig to pick fruit from.\r\nThe east coast of Australia is the perfect place to build your holiday house.\r\n#### Goldfields-Esperence\r\nHot, dry and lots of nothing in the center and south of Western Australia.\r\nExcept gold. Lots of gold.\r\n#### Arnhem Land\r\nTropical wetlands in the Northern Territory.\r\n#### Gulf of Carpentaria\r\nSub-tropical area between Cape York in Queensland and Darwin in the Northern Territory.\r\n#### Far North Queensland\r\nYou'll find the tropical Daintree rainforest near the coastline and eucalypt forests inland along the Cape York Peninsula.\r\n#### Pilbara\r\nOne of the hottest parts of Australia is the north-west of Western Australia.\r\nThe rocky, gravel surface is red due to the amount of hematite in the ground.\r\nYou'll find lots of iron ore here. Don't forget to bring plenty of water.\r\n### Kimberley\r\nThe north-west of Western Australia is where you'll find the odd-shaped Boab Tree.\r\nIs it the flora or the chance of diamonds that brought you here?\r\n#### Tasmania\r\nThe island of Tasmania is the most mountainous state in Australia.\r\nMuch of Tasmania is densely forested.\r\nThe Tarkine, located in island's far North West, is the largest temperate rainforest area in Australia.\r\nIn the south you'll find the tallest flowering tree in the world, Eucalyptus Regnans, the Swamp Gum.\r\n#### Great Dividing Range\r\nThe Great Dividing Range is Australia's most substantial mountain range.\r\nThe range stretches more than 3,500 km (2,175 mi), running the entire length of the eastern coastline.\r\n#### Victorian Forests\r\nThe cool mountains and southern, central and north-eastern Victoria are dominated by wet eucalypt forests.\r\nBlue Gum, White Box and Swamp Gum will all tower over you.\r\n#### Flinders-Lofty\r\nThe Flinders-Lofty bioregion in South Australia has a general pattern of mountain ranges, ridges and wide, flat plains.\r\nSome of Australia's best wines come from this region.\r\n#### Murray-Darling Basin\r\nThe Murray–Darling basin is a large geographical area in the interior of southeastern Australia.\r\nIts name is derived from its two major rivers, the Murray River and the Darling River.\r\nRiver Red Gum are know to drop large branches, so watch your head when resting in their shade.\r\n#### Mulga Lands\r\nThe Mulga Lands are a bioregion of eastern Australia consisting of dry sandy plains scattered with mulga trees.\r\n#### Central Australia\r\nCentral Australia, the 'Red Centre', is the place where you will find the most famous monolith, Uluru and it is where the heart of the outback beats.\r\n#### Simpson Desert\r\nThe area is extremely hot and dry. Famous for it's red sand dunes.\r\n#### Australian Alps\r\nThe highest parts of the Great Dividing Range.\r\n\r\n## To-do list\r\n* Redo some tree textures, especially wood. Some of them are great, some are awful.\r\n* Opals in Central Australia biome.\r\n* Work out way to place some trees and plants along rivers.\r\n* Salt lakes in Central Australia biome.\r\n* Adjust tree and plant distribution.\r\n* Adjust tree size and leaf functions.\r\n* Add some rocky beaches.\r\n* Add some river/lake plants, especially to Arnhem land biome.\r\n* Add terra rossa soil and grape vines in the Flinders-Lofty biome. Red/white wine.\r\n* Add more logs.\r\n* Add moss on trees.\r\n* Palm trees in FNQ and Arnhem land beaches.\r\n* Add support for survival mod/game.\r\n* Add support for a mobs mod - Great White Shark, Tiger Shark, Saltwater Crocodile, Brown Snake, Tiger Snake, Emu, Kangaroo.\r\n\r\n## Installation\r\n\r\n### Download\r\n1. [Download](https://github.com/vlapsley/australia/archive/master.zip) the .zip file\r\n2. Extract the .zip archive with an archive manager (WinZip, 7-zip, gunzip...)\r\n3. Rename the directory to *australia* and place it in the `/mods` directory of Minetest.\r\n\r\n### Download using Git\r\n1. Open the terminal (in Linux) or the Git shell (in Windows), and set the working directory (the *mods* folder) using `cd` - for example `cd /home/vlapsley/.minetest/mods` or `cd C:\\Users\\vlapsley\\minetest-0.4.13\\mods`.\r\n2. Clone (download) Australia: `git clone https://github.com/vlapsley/australia.git`.\r\n3. Next time, you can automatically update Australia mod with the same `cd` command, and `git pull origin master`.\r\n\r\n## Use\r\n### Mapgen compatibility\r\nThe Australia mod has been designed specifically for the Valleys mapgen, currently in Minetest 0.4.14.\r\nIt will work with mapgens v5, v7, flat and fractal, but it won't be as visually appealing.\r\nThe rivers and temperature/humidity of the Valleys mapgen play a vital role in getting the feel of the Australia mod just right.\r\n\r\n### Settings\r\nYou can enable/disable biomes by opening the *init.lua* file and changing each biome setting to `1` for enabled or `0` for disabled.\r\nThis will also disable plants, trees and more that are unique to that biome.\r\nAll biomes are enabled by default. Currently, disabling the *Underground* biome will have no effect.\r\n\r\n## Changelog\r\n### 0.4 (2016-05-24)\r\n* Added new corals and sea grass.\r\n* Replaced coral sand with coral stone.\r\n* Added sunken woodships and submarines with variable \"loot\".\r\n* Fixed an issue with the rainforest tree schematic causing Minetest 0.4.14 to crash on startup.\r\n\r\n### 0.3.1 (2016-04-22)\r\n* Changed ore distribution to use minetest.register_ore function.\r\n* Added uranium in two biomes if technic_worldgen mod is enabled.\r\n* Added 4 new corals to the Great Barrier Reef biome.\r\n* Added Brown and Giant Kelp to some ocean biomes.\r\n* Changed muddy river water opacity. It's now much harder to see underwater in these rivers.\r\n* Removed necessity to use voxel manipulator, voxel.lua file.\r\n* Fixed noairblocks.\r\n* Fixed a naming issue with some fern textures, credit: Napiophelios.\r\n\r\n### 0.2 (2016-04-13)\r\n* Added ferns.\r\n* Fixed muddy water bucket.\r\n\r\n### 0.1 (2016-04-11)\r\n* 24 biomes\r\n* 6 new stone nodes, 4 non-stone nodes\r\n* Dirty river water\r\n* 48 trees\r\n* 10 plants\r\n* 4 corals\r\n\r\n## Credits\r\n### Code\r\n* Original tree code adapted from Gael-de-Sailly [GNU GPLv3](http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.en.html), original source can be found at [](https://github.com/Gael-de-Sailly/valleys_mapgen) and duane-r [BSD license](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bsd_license).\r\n* Original tree schematic creation code modified by vlapsley and orginal by duane-r [BSD license](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bsd_license).\r\n* noairblocks.lua : Code modified from Duane Robertson's [valleys_c](https://github.com/duane-r/valleys_c) mod.
