To unlock this feature, the\npermission (`WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS`) has to be granted.\n\nThe app comes with an easy step-by-step setup process, that lets you choose one of the following\nmethods to do so:\n\n* Web Tool (Recommended) – Use our browser-based setup tool on a secondary device (Computer, Tablet,\n  or Phone). No code or ADB\n  installation required (WebADB).\n  👉 **[lexip.dev/setup](https://lexip.dev/setup)**\n\n* **Shizuku** – If you have **[Shizuku](https://github.com/RikkaApps/Shizuku)** installed and\n  configured, you can\n  grant the permission directly within the Adaptive Theme app.\n\n* **Root** – If your device is rooted, you can grant the permission with one tap inside the app.\n\n* **Manual ADB** – If you have ADB installed on your computer, you can run the ADB grant\n  command manually via your\n  terminal.\n\n## ⚙️ How it Works\n\n**Wondering why the theme didn't change immediately?**\n\nTo avoid screen flicker and unnecessary background work, Adaptive Theme follows strict rules:\n\n- **Event-driven:** It checks the light sensor only immediately after the screen turns on.\n- **Validity check:** It verifies that the sensor is not obstructed (e.g., by a hand or pocket).\n- **Seamless switch:** It switches the theme instantly, ensuring the UI is ready before you start\n  interacting with it.\n\n## ✅ Safety\n\nThe required permission only allows the app to change system settings such as the dark mode. This is\nabsolutely safe and\ncompletely reversible by uninstalling the app. It does **not** grant root access or read any user\ndata.\n\n## ❓ FAQ\n\n**Does this require root?**\n\n* No. It works on stock devices. However, if you have Root, it can optionally be used to set up the\n  service faster.\n\n**Does it work with custom Android skins (Xiaomi MIUI, Samsung OneUI, etc.)?**\n\n* In most cases, yes.
