Both the movies and the python codes are present\nhere.\n\nNote: many of these animations were quickly put together before a\nlecture and don't necessarily use the more elegant coding or\nlibraries.  These will be refined during semesters when I am teaching\nintroductory astronomy.\n\nMany of the animations are also up on youtube:\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5D1C3702F5D1E571\n\n`anim_solvers`: support routines for the animations (e.g. a class\nthat understands a solar system and how to integrate the planet\norbits\n\n`binary_exoplanets`: various animations illustrating binary star\norbits and concepts of exoplanets (radial velocities, transits).\n\n`CFD`: some simple animations that show ideas in computational fluid\ndynamics.\n\n`ellipses`: simple animations that illustrate the properties of \nellipses.\n\n`galaxies`: animations related to galaxies.\n\n`mechanics`: animations showing the dynamics of orbits.\n\n`radiation_thermodynamics`: simple animations showing blackbody\ncurves and thermodynamics concepts.\n\n`radioactive_decay`: an illustration of the random process of\nradioactive decay.\n\n`scripts`: support scripts, including a simple wrapper for mencoder to\nstring PNGs into a movie\n\n`solar_system_motion`: lots of animations showing the basics of \nKepler's laws, the Moon's orbit and phases, sidereal vs. synodic\nperiods, ...\n\n`stars`: figures related to stellar astrophysics.\n\n`waves`: animations related to wave motion.\n\n\n## Setup\n\nMany of the routines use the solver in anim_solvers to do the\nintegration.  This directory needs to be in your `PYTHONPATH` for the\nscripts to execute.\n\nYou will need to have `numpy`, `matplotlib`, and the `python-basemap`\npackages installed for the scripts to run.\n","project_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fzingale%2Fastro_animations","html_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/projects/github.com%2Fzingale%2Fastro_animations","lists_url":"https://awesome.ecosyste.ms/api/v1/projects/github.com%2Fzingale%2Fastro_animations/lists"}
