In **Gaming Mode**, navigate to **Settings** \u003e **Audio** and select **Speakers** as the **Output Device** (not **Default**)\n2. Make sure **Enable UI Sounds** is enabled, and your volume is up.\n3. Move around in the menu.\n4. If you still hear sound, you can skip step 6 of the installation instructions.\n\n## Installation Instructions\n\n1. **In Desktop Mode, open Konsole and set a password on your Steam Deck**  \n   (Skip this step if you have already set a password.)\n   ```bash\n   passwd\n   ```\n\n2. **Download the steamdeck-m8c repository and change directory**  \n   ```bash\n   git clone https://github.com/roterodamus/steamdeck-m8c.git\n   cd steamdeck-m8c/\n   ```\n\n3. **Make scripts executable**  \n   ```bash\n   chmod +x download-m8c-latest.sh\n   chmod +x install-libserialport.sh\n   chmod +x steamdeck-audiofix.sh\n   ```\n\n4. **Download and unzip the latest m8c from the Laamaa/m8c repository**  \n   ```bash\n   ./download-m8c-latest.sh\n   ```\n\n5. **Install libserialport**  \n   ```bash\n   ./install-libserialport.sh\n   ```\n\n6. **Apply Audio Fix (Only if Needed)**  \n   ```bash\n   ./steamdeck-audiofix.sh\n   ```\n7. **Reboot. All done!**\n\n## **Post installation**\n\u003e [!TIP]\n\u003e I have uploaded a community controller layout. Search for it under **m8c** or **roterodamus**.\n- You can add m8c to steam as a **non-Steam** game so you can launch it from **Gaming mode**.\n- The default controls in **Gaming Mode** don't work, make sure you bind the controls to keyboard keys **A, S, Z, X** and the **arrow-keys**.\n\n\n## notes\n- You can run the scripts individually if needed.
