README
The Snappy compression format in the Go programming language.
To use as a library:
$ go get github.com/golang/snappyTo use as a binary:
$ go install github.com/golang/snappy/cmd/snappytool@latest
$ cat decoded | ~/go/bin/snappytool -e > encoded
$ cat encoded | ~/go/bin/snappytool -d > decodedUnless otherwise noted, the Snappy-Go source files are distributed
under the BSD-style license found in the LICENSE file.Benchmarks.
The golang/snappy benchmarks include compressing (Z) and decompressing (U) ten
or so files, the same set used by the C++ Snappy code (github.com/google/snappy
and note the "google", not "golang"). On an "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @
3.40GHz", Go's GOARCH=amd64 numbers as of 2016-05-29:"go test -test.bench=."
