# Engine Simulator - Community Edition

## Introduction

Welcome to *Engine Simulator - Community Edition*, the free version of *Engine Simulator* by [AngeTheGreat](https://www.youtube.com/@angethegreat). If you're a software developer, the original open-source *Engine Simulator* can be found [here](https://github.com/ange-yaghi/engine-sim).

*Engine Simulator* is an engine simulation game that allows you to build, run, test and actually *hear* your engine creations.

## How to Download Engine Simulator

## Installation Instructions

*Engine Simulator* does not come with an installer. The `.zip` file that you download contains the entire game and is standalone. You can place it wherever you want. **Do not modify anything inside the game's file directory**.

1. Download the *Engine Simulator* `.zip` file (see *How to Download Engine Simulator* above)

2. Unzip the `.zip` file wherever you like

3. Inside the unzipped directory, navigate to the `bin/` folder

4. Run `engine-sim-app.exe`

5. **For v0.1.13a or earlier**: If an error message pops up saying you are missing a DLL, run the `.exe` files inside the `installation/` folder. These will install the dependencies that *Engine Simulator* needs to run if they're not already on your computer

## Controls

*Engine Simulator* uses a minimalistic UI driven by keybinds. The most important ones are below.

| A | Toggle ignition |

| S | Hold for starter |

| Shift | Clutch (hold spacebar at the same time to slowly engage/disengage) |

| Y | Hold clutch at current pressure |

| T/U | Decrease/increase clutch pressure (hold Y while using these keys) |

| Up Arrow | Up gear |

| Down Arrow | Down gear |

| Q, W, E, R | Change throttle position |

| . | Vehicle brake |

| D | Enable dyno |

| H | Enable RPM hold (see below for instructions) |

| G + Scroll | Change hold speed |

| F | Enter fullscreen mode |

| I | Display dyno stats in the information panel |

| Left Arrow | Previous oscilloscope page | 

| Right Arrow | Next oscilloscope page | 

| Z + Scroll | Volume |

| X + Scroll | Convolution Level |

| C + Scroll | High frequency gain |

| V + Scroll | Low frequency noise |

| B + Scroll | High frequency noise |

| N + Scroll | Simulation frequency |

| M | Increase view layer |

| Enter | Reload engine script |

| Escape | Exit the program |

| Space + Scroll | Fine throttle adjustment |
