Animechan.io is an evolving project aims to deliver a variety of anime information through a straightforward API interface. Currently focused on providing anime quotes, we are actively developing new features to expand its offerings and transform it into a more comprehensive public API.

## History

> [!NOTE]

> Major updates of the project since its inception:

1. **Year 2020**: Developed the API using KoaJS and deployed the backend on Heroku, with the frontend implemented in NextJS and hosted on Vercel.

2. **Nov 2022**: Moved server-side hosting from Heroku to Render due to [Heroku discontinuing their free dyno plans](https://blog.heroku.com/new-low-cost-plans).

3. **Jun 24, 2023**: Relocated both backend and frontend to AWS and acquired the new domain, animechan.xyz.

4. **Dec 21, 2023**: Open-sourced the API's backend server code.

5. **Feb 04, 2024**: Migrated the database to PlanetScale.
