Setup and Installation
----------------------
If you checked out MonkeyScript from source instead of a release you'll need to
first setup the MonkeyScript Lite bootstrap.To do this you'll need the Java 6 SDK installed on your system, as well as GNU Make.
Run `make bootstrap` to setup the bootstrap.Updating lib/wrench17.js
------------------------
lib/wrench17.js is used when building MonkeyScript lite.
The Wrench.js project serves as the majority of MonkeyScript's stdlib.To update the copy of lib/wrench17.js the first time run:
> git submodule init lib/wrench # initialise the lib/wrench submodule
> git submodule update lib/wrench # update/check out the submodule
Start here if you are updating when you already initialised the submodule
> cd lib/wrench # cd into the submodule's directory
> git pull origin master # update your copy of the wrench repo
> cd ../../ # return to the MonkeyScript lite directory
> make wrench # update lib/wrench17.js using the submodule
If you are checking the changes into the git repo as part of a new commit also do this:
> git add lib/wrench17.js # add the new wrench17.js into the index
> git add lib/wrench # Update the commit referenced by the submodule
# DON'T use a trailing slash, if you do you'll add
# the contents instead of updating the submoduleUpdating lib/js.jar

lib/js.jar (rhino) is used when building MonkeyScript lite.
Rhino project serves as the JavaScript interpreter for MonkeyScript lite.
Note that you'll need Apache Ant in addition to the Java SDK to build rhino.To update the copy of lib/js.jar the first time run:
> git submodule init lib/rhino # initialise the lib/rhino submodule
> git submodule update lib/rhino # update/check out the submodule

If you've setup a environment with jake in the rc, binaries ready on the path,
and the commonjs dir in require.paths you can checkout and run the commonjs tests
to test for compatibility.To checkout your copy of the tests run:
> git submodule init commonjs-tests
> git submodule update commonjs-tests
To run the tests, within the monkeyscript lit directory run:
> jake test.commonjsThe tests will print out a bunch of info, note that a number of extensions tests
will fail as we may not be implementing some of them, however all compliance tests should pass.Related
