## 📚Experiment Instructions

- **Start**
- What is the task?
- Keys for decisions: `c` (correct) and `n` (incorrect).

- **Practice Block 1**
- Easy dot motion task, coherence = `0.5`.
- Number of trials: `24`.
- Minimum accuracy required: `85%`.
- Otherwise: feedback/encouragement + repeat the block.

- **Instructions**
- "We will now proceed with more challenging trials."

- **Practice Block 2**
- Harder dot motion task, coherence = `0.2`.
- Number of trials: `24`.
- Minimum accuracy required: `60%`.
- Otherwise: feedback/encouragement + repeat the block.

- **Instructions**
- "Next, you will have 2 minutes to score as many points as possible."
- Incorrect answers will result in time penalties.

- **Practice Block 3**
- Coherence: `0.2`.
- Duration: `2` minutes.
- Penalty for incorrect answers: 1-second time penalty based on accuracy.

- **Instructions**
- Use the following keys for confidence ratings: `1`, `2`, `3`, `8`, `9`, `0`.
- "Same principle: score as many points as possible, but now also rate your confidence."
- Confidence ratings will also result in time penalties.

- **Practice Block 4**
- Coherence: `0.2`.
- Duration: `2` minutes.
- Penalty for incorrect answers: time penalty based on confidence ratings:
- `1 sec`, `0.8 sec`, `0.6 sec`, `0.4 sec`, `0.2 sec`, `0 sec`.

- **Instructions**
- "The real experiment will now begin."
- Time penalties may vary between blocks but will remain consistent within each block.

- **Experimental Blocks 1 & 2**
- Duration: `4 x 7` minutes.
- Time penalties based on accuracy:
- High penalty for accuracy (ACC): `2` seconds.
- Low penalty for confidence (CONF): `1–0` seconds.

- **Experimental Blocks 3 & 4**
- Duration: `4 x 7` minutes.
- Time penalties based on confidence ratings:
- Low penalty for accuracy (ACC): `1` second.
- High penalty for confidence (CONF): `2–0` seconds.

- **End**
- "The experiment is finished."
