### Real-time CDC Subscriptions

Excalibase REST supports real-time change data capture (CDC) via SSE and WebSocket. Changes made through the API **or directly in PostgreSQL** are streamed to subscribers.

**Prerequisites**: Requires [excalibase-watcher](https://github.com/excalibase/excalibase-watcher) and NATS JetStream (included in `docker-compose.yml`).

```bash
# SSE โ€” subscribe to changes on a table
curl -N "http://localhost:20000/api/v1/customers/changes"
# Events arrive as:
# event:INSERT
# data:{"id":"...","name":"John Doe","email":"john@example.com",...}
#
# event:UPDATE
# data:{"new":{"id":"...","name":"Jane Doe",...}}
#
# event:DELETE
# data:{"id":"..."}
```

```javascript
// WebSocket โ€” connect to ws://localhost:20000/ws/customers/changes
const ws = new WebSocket("ws://localhost:20000/ws/customers/changes");
ws.onmessage = (msg) => {
const event = JSON.parse(msg.data);
console.log(event.event, event.table, event.data);
};
```

### Prefer Header

Use the `Prefer` header for optional response behaviors:

```bash
# Include total count in pagination response
curl -H "Prefer: count=exact" "http://localhost:20000/api/v1/users?limit=10"
# Response includes: "pagination": {"total": 42, ...}
# Return created/updated object (default behavior)
curl -H "Prefer: return=representation" -X POST ...
# Return minimal response
curl -H "Prefer: return=minimal" -X POST ...
```

## ๐Ÿ—๏ธ Database Schema Discovery

Excalibase REST automatically discovers your database schema and creates REST endpoints:

```bash
# Get all available tables
curl "http://localhost:20000/api/v1"
# Get table schema information
curl "http://localhost:20000/api/v1/users/schema"
# Get OpenAPI specification
curl "http://localhost:20000/api/v1/openapi.json"
curl "http://localhost:20000/api/v1/openapi.yaml"
# Get custom PostgreSQL type information
curl "http://localhost:20000/api/v1/types/my_enum_type"
```
