# docker-base-alpine-s6-overlay
Base docker image including the s6-overlay but using Alpine's copy of s6
This project's goal is to prepare an Alpine linux base build using
s6-overlay but with the native Alpine linux s6. This reduces the
number of separate sources for difficult-to-inspect binaries.

for more details.
Recent updates have taken advantage of the new 'nobin' releases of s6-overlay,
reducing the need to massage the data format.
# Updating
To synchronize the source tree with s6-overlay, update the S6\_OVERLAY\_RELEASE item
inside the Dockerfile.
If a new key is used, you'll need to add it to the trust keychain in keys/trust.gpg
# Quickstart
Build the following Dockerfile and try this guy out:

FROM harningt/base-alpine-s6-overlay:edge
RUN apk add --update nginx && \
rm -rf /var/cache/apk/* && \
echo "daemon off;" >> /etc/nginx/nginx.conf
ENTRYPOINT ["/init"]
CMD ["nginx"]
```
