# Tech Blog

## Description
Tech blog is a CMS blog site created using the MVC paradigm. The application utilizes Handlebars as the templating engine, Express as the web framework, Sequelize as the ORM, and express-sessions for authenticating users. Authenticated users are allowed to create, read, update, delete blog posts. Authenticated users can also create and delete comments. Non authenticated users are only allowed to view posts and comments.

## Installation
You can run this application locally by following the steps below. You can also visit the live website [here](https://hart-tech-blog-cee9caa9c8e6.herokuapp.com/)
- Download Node.js at [Node.js](https://nodejs.org/en) if not already installed. You can check if it is installed by typing `node-v` in your command line.
- Fork the repo to make a copy.
- Next, clone the project using `git clone https://github.com/ianahart/tech-blog.git`.
- To install dependencies, make sure you're in the root of the project and run `npm install`.
- In the root of the directory create a `.env` file with your database credentials that match `env.EXAMPLE`.
- in a terminal window navigate to the root of the project directory and run `mysql -u root -p`.
- Once inside the MySQL shell run `source db/schema.sql;`
- In a terminal window run the command `node seeds` to seed the database with dummy data.
## Usage
- Sign up by creating an account with a unique username and password.
- After signing up you will be logged in and you can go to your dashboard to create a new post.
- You can also update or delete a post by clicking on an individual post.
- you can click on any post either in your dashboard or on the homepage to leave a comment.
- if you are the owner of a particular comment you can delete it.
- once you are done you get go to the navbar and click the **logout** button to be logged out of the application.
