FDP1 Test Repository
--------------------

This repository contains scripts and source code to assist with testing the
RCar FDP1 device driver.

This repository uses autoconf and automake to build the source code, and
install, and can be used in the usual manner with:
./configure; make; make install

Out of tree building is supported, and of course this repository allows cross
compiling (Only cross compiling to AARCH64 has been tested)

Dependencies
------------

The tests which utilise Gstreamer, require gst-plugins-good to be complied with
support for M2M V4L2 devices.

This can be achieved by using the configure option: --enable-v4l2-probe
or enabling the relevant option in a mainline buildroot configuration

Test Utilities
--------------

When installed in a target filesystem, this repository provides the following
test utilities:

fdp1-unit-test:
--device/-d : Use device /dev/videoX (0)
--width/-w : Set width [128]
--height/-h : Set height [80]
--num_frames/-n : Number of frames to process [30]
--hexdump/x : Hexdump instead of draw
--verbose/v : Verbose test output [0]
--help/-? : Display this help

This binary will run a selection of increasing workloads and attempts to test
specific areas of the FDP1 driver.

It could also be used for examples on how to send buffers into the hardware
using the v4l2 layer

fdp1-gst-tests:
fdp1-gst-tests uses gstreamer to generate test data, and inject the frames
into the FDP1 device. The output is captured, and encoded (with optional
lossless encoding) into and h264 mp4 container for external viewing of the
data. The output of each test is stored in a kernel specific output folder
for reference.

fdp1-gst-transcode-file:
fdp1-gst-transcode-file accepts a video media file supported by gstreamers
decode pipelines, and will queue frames through the FDP1, re-encode the
output and store in a kernel specific output folder

fdp1-v4l2-compliance:
This script will execute vl4l2-compliance, and store the result in a kernel
specific output folder.

Full Test Procedure
-------------------

- Boot a target supporting the FDP1, with a kernel configured with the FDP1
driver

- Install these utilities in the target filesystem

- From a shell execute the following tests:
- Each command supports a '-d' flag to specify a target video device number
For example, to test /dev/video3, pass -d3 to each command

- fdp1-v4l2-compliance # Run v4l2 tests
- fdp1-unit-tests # Run progressive tests
- fdp1-unit-tests -i # Run interlaced tests
- fdp1-gst-tests -f # Run full format conversion tests

Deprecated Binaries
-------------------

The following binaries are historical and not intended for use in testing.
They are deprecated and could be removed:

fdp1-test:
The original code used for testing early interactions with the fdp1.
Based on process-vmalloc

process-vmalloc:
The original test code source for testing an m2m device.
