# Minimal Essentials
> A minimal "essentials" skin for [VirtualDJ][virtualdj].
This skin is derived from the default [VirtualDJ][virtualdj] "Essentials" skin and includes modifications intended to streamline the user interface by removing functionality which is less commonly used in non-mixing contexts (e.g., when DJing at a salsa dance social).
Notably, the skin does not include elements for
- effects
- looping
- padding
- scratching
as these elements are more common in traditional club contexts.
## Installation
Download the latest release from
```text
https://github.com/kgryte/virtualdj-skin-minimal-essentials/releases
```
Extract the downloaded archive to
```text
~/path/to/VirtualDJ/Skins/minimal-essentials
```
In [VirtualDJ][virtualdj], open Settings and select the skin from
```text
Settings -> Interface -> Minimal Essentials
```
## Notes
- Included in this repository is a keyboard mapping which pairs with the skin, providing keyboard shortcuts for each of the main user interface elements. To install, copy the mappings to the
```text
~/path/to/VirtualDJ/Mappers
```
directory. Once copied, open Settings and select the mapping from
```text
Settings -> Mapping
```
