# US-Inaugural-Addresses
Python scripts to download, process, and analyze [US Inaugural Addresses](https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/presidential-documents-archive-guidebook/inaugural-addresses).

## Usage
- Clone this repository
```sh
git clone https://github.com/lykmapipo/US-Inaugural-Addresses.git
cd US-Inaugural-Addresses
```
- Install all dependencies
```sh
pip install -r requirements.txt
```
- To scrape [Inaugural Addresses](https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/presidential-documents-archive-guidebook/inaugural-addresses), run:
```sh
python scrape_inaugural_addresses.py
```
- To analyze raw words, to aid next analysis steps, run:
```sh
python analyze_raw_words.py
```
## Data
- Check [data/raw/inaugural-addresses](https://github.com/lykmapipo/US-Inaugural-Addresses/tree/main/data/raw/inaugural-addresses) directory for all raw scraped data. Each file is in `text format`, and named following `{year}-{president name}` pattern.
- Check [raw words wordcloud](https://github.com/lykmapipo/US-Inaugural-Addresses/tree/main/data/interim/inaugural_address_raw_words_wordcloud.png) and [raw words metadata](https://github.com/lykmapipo/US-Inaugural-Addresses/tree/main/data/interim/inaugural_address_raw_words_metadata.csv) generated from analyzing raw words.
