= What is Rookie?

Rookie is a project to build a MediaWiki parser in Ruby.

= Why did you call it Rookie?

The name comes from a combination of "Ruby" and "wiki". It's also my first attempt at writing a parser for anything, so the name seemed appropriate.

= Who are you?

My name is {Marnen Laibow-Koser}[http://www.marnen.org]. I'm the developer of {Quorum}[http://quorum2.sourceforge.net], and I'm writing Rookie in order to be able to use MediaWiki markup in Quorum (and to learn about parser construction...). I'm a Web developer and musician in Albany, New York.
