# Checklist

List of thinks that should be checked on obtaining new computer. Especially on buying an used one.

- [ ] Check BIOS events log
- [ ] Check whatever BIOS is password-locked with disabled editing
- [ ] Look through BIOS in general
- [ ] Check for dead pixels: [http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/](http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/), [http://lcdtech.info/en/tests/dead.pixel.htm](http://lcdtech.info/en/tests/dead.pixel.htm) and [http://deadpixeltest.com/](http://deadpixeltest.com/) seem to be a nice tools
- [ ] Backlight bleed test - check in completely dark room whatever black screen is evenly black
- [ ] Even lighting - check white backround is it evenly lit (check from multiple angles)
- [ ] Even lighting - check light blue backround is it evenly lit (check from multiple angles)
- [ ] In case of lit keyboard, is it working properly?
- [ ] Test keyboard [https://www.keyboardtester.com/](https://www.keyboardtester.com/) may be useful
- [ ] Check SMART report from SSD
- [ ] SMART equivalent for batteries (?is it even existing?)
- [ ] Test CPU and/or GPU - https://www.guidingtech.com/41727/test-hardware-new-used-pc/ recommends [FurMark](https://geeks3d.com/furmark/downloads/), no idea is it a good tool. [This article](https://www.notebookcheck.net/Guide-How-to-check-a-new-laptop-for-issues.232476.0.html) has more info and recommends NOT using FurMark :)
