Description

This repository contains the code and resources for performing descriptive analysis using Excel and visualizing the data using Power BI. The analysis focuses on food insecurity and its impact on students' academic performance at Springforth University. The goal is to provide insights and recommendations for the establishment of a food bank on campus in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Contents

  • data.xlsx: The Excel file containing the dataset of student responses on food insecurity and related factors.

  • analysis.xlsx: The Excel file containing the descriptive analysis performed on the dataset, including calculations, charts, and pivot tables.

  • report.pdf: A PDF report summarizing the key findings, insights, and recommendations derived from the analysis.

  • visualizations.pbix: The Power BI file containing the visualizations created using the dataset to gain a deeper understanding of the data.

Analysis Process

  1. Data Preparation: The dataset of student responses was collected and stored in the data.xlsx file. The data was cleaned and organized for analysis.

  2. Descriptive Analysis using Excel: Excel was used to perform descriptive analysis on the dataset. Various calculations, charts, and pivot tables were created to explore the relationships between food insecurity, academic performance, and other factors. The results were documented in the analysis.xlsx file.

  3. Visualization using Power BI: Power BI was employed to create interactive visualizations based on the dataset. These visualizations offer a comprehensive view of the data, allowing for deeper insights and facilitating data-driven decision-making.

  4. Insights and Recommendations: Based on the descriptive analysis and visualizations, key insights were derived regarding the prevalence of food insecurity, its impact on academic performance, and other factors contributing to the issue. Recommendations were formulated to justify the establishment of a food bank on campus in collaboration with UNESCO.

How to Use

  1. Open the data.xlsx file to access the dataset of student responses. Update or modify the data as needed for further analysis.

  2. Open the analysis.xlsx file to explore the descriptive analysis performed on the dataset using Excel. Review the calculations, charts, and pivot tables to gain insights into the relationships between variables.

  3. Open the visualizations.pbix file in Power BI to interact with the visualizations created based on the dataset. Customize the visualizations or create new ones to suit your specific needs.

  4. Refer to the report.pdf file for a detailed summary of the analysis findings, insights, and recommendations.
