# NeoTerm - Terminal Emulator
[NeoTerm](https://github.com/neoterm/neoterm) is a powerful terminal emulator designed for all major operating systems, including Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux. NeoTerm builds on the concept of providing a complete Linux environment across your devices, making it a perfect tool for developers, IT professionals, and enthusiasts who need access to Linux utilities and software on any platform.
The prefix [NEO](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/neo-), derived from the Ancient Greek [νεο](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%CE%BD%CE%B5%CE%BF-)/[νέος](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%CE%BD%CE%AD%CE%BF%CF%82) (neo/neos), meaning 'new' or 'modern', encapsulates the spirit of innovation. It symbolizes our commitment to providing cutting-edge, forward-thinking technology with the [NeoTerm](https://github.com/neoterm/neoterm) terminal emulator. This terminal is designed for developers seeking modern, efficient, and robust software (Linux Environment) solutions. For more about the significance of 'NEO', visit [Wikipedia](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/neo-).
## NeoTerm Update
NeoTerm packages use their own `.neo` or `.nt` extensions, and the primary command is `neo`. To install packages, use `neo use pkgname` instead of traditional commands like `apt install` or `pkg install`. Stay tuned for more on how to use these features soon!
## Development Update!
We're currently hard at work on [NeoLang](https://github.com/neolang)—our new programming language—and NeoTerm, this terminal emulator built using `NeoLang`. Crafting both simultaneously ensures top quality, though it does extend our timeline. Thanks for your patience! Exciting updates and a release are on the horizon.
Thanks for choosing NeoTerm.
