# OGC GeoSPARQL
## Introduction
This GitHub repository contains [OGC](https://www.ogc.org/)'s [GeoSPARQL Standard](https://www.ogc.org/standards/geosparql).
This repository is managed by the _GeoSPARQL Standards Working Group_, the Charter for which can be viewed here:
* [GeoSPARQL SWG Charter](https://rawcdn.githack.com/opengeospatial/ogc-geosparql/f51bfe0643bb4010ba8a2ee2ae79e8335a55558c/charter/swg_charter.html) (online)
To see in-progress HTML & PDF versions of the various elements of GeoSPARQL 1.1 - specification, ontology, constituent vocabularies etc. - as well as the elements of the 1.0 version of the standard, please see:

## GeoSPARQL variants
### GeoSPARQL 1.2
This is the current, as of March 2026, in draft version of GeoSPARQL being worked on by the GeoSPARQL SWG. It is expected to be completed in mid to late 2026 with publication in late 2026 or early 2027. It will be proposed for ISO co-adoption as soon as it is published as an OGC standard.
### GeoSPARQL 1.1
This is the current published standard version of GeoSPARQL, online at .
If you are looking to use GeoSPARQL, use this version.
### GeoSPARQL ISO
This is the proposed ISO standard ISO 19186-1 that is, as of March 2026, under internal ISO review. It is normatively the same as GeoSPARQL 1.1 with only styling, formatting and non-normative referencing and definitions changes to align it with [ISO/TC211](https://www.iso.org/committee/54904.html)'s 19* series of standards.
When published, it will be listed here.
### GeoSPARQL 1.0
This is the original version of GeoSPARQL published in 2012. A copy of its specification as then published is available from the OGC GeoSPARWL stnadrd listing:

## Current Work
Work on GeoSPARQL is tracked in this repository's Issue Tracker at .
Issues listed there are labelled as fixes (errata) for existing standards or items for new versions ("ISO", "1.2" etc). Feel free to lodge bugs / feature requests / Use Cases there.
## Working documents
An index of the working artefacts for recent and current GeoSPARQL versions from this repository can be found here:
* . These are built automatically as updates occur.
> [!NOTE]
> These are only working documents. Approved OGC documents are at and technical artefacts are published in the [OGC RAINBOW Reference Data Platform](https://defs.opengis.net) within the [Geosemantics DWG Catalogue](https://defs.opengis.net/prez/catalogs/ogc-cat:datamodels/col/catalog:geosparql)
Extended GeoSPARQL work can also be found in the following OGC code repositories:

## How to get involved
To be involved in the development of current/new versions of GeoSPARQL, join the OGC and participate in the GeoSPARQL Standard Working Group!
Additionally, you may communicate with the SWG and raise bugs/issues/Use Cases in the issue tracker at .
If you're already a member of the ISO, you can be involved in the development of ISO versions of GeoSPARQL through the ISO's [Technical Committee 211 - Geographic information/Geomatics](https://www.iso.org/committee/54904.html).
