# OpenHands Incubator Program

This repository describes how new projects are created under the OpenHands GitHub organization and how they progress toward becoming officially supported.

For badge usage and copy-paste README snippets, see docs/badges.md.

## Project Classes

| Class | Description |
|---|---|
| **Alpha** | Experimental phase. May be vibecoded, untested, or out of date. No official support. |
| **Beta** | Valuable to a small number of users. Clear project owner. Has passed code quality audit. Best-effort support. |
| **Stable** | In production or used by a significant number of users. Maintained SLO for security issues and critical bugs. |

All projects must live in the OpenHands organization. Projects at any stage may be open or closed source.

Tech council must approve (a) any change in class, and (b) any change in open vs. closed source status.

See [docs/lifecycle.md](docs/lifecycle.md) for full requirements and the graduation process.
