h3. Prerequisites

# Debian or Ubuntu linux server
# User with sudo rights on the server

h3. Contents

* _deploy.rb_ - settings file for Capistrano. Put your server credentials here.
* _install.rb_ - Main Sprinkle install script. Modify it for selecting exact packages you want to use.
* _recipes/comet.rb_ - Comet server of you choice: Juggernaut or Orbited/RabbitMQ
* _recipes/databases.rb_ - MySQL or Postgres with appropriate ruby gems
* _recipes/essentials.rb_ - Build tools required for building linux apps from source
* _recipes/geoip.rb_ - GeoIP C library and free GeoIP City database
* _recipes/goodies.rb_ - Different utilities for system administrator like htop, screen, vim, ccze, logrotate, etc
* _recipes/imagemagick.rb_ - ImageMagick utility
* _recipes/mailserver.rb_ - Mail server. Not used by default because Ubuntu is already shipped with Exim4
* _recipes/nginx_passenger_.rb_ - Nginx with Passenger module built from source
* _recipes/rails.rb_ - Latest stable version of Ruby on Rails
* _recipes/redis.rb_ - Redis database, recipe is not stable and not recomended to use at this time
* _recipes/ruby_ee_dep_gems.rb_ - Ruby Enterprise Edition and RubyGems built from source
* _recipes/scm.rb_ Git or Mercurial

h3. Usage

# Install Sprinkle: _sudo gem install sprinkle_
# Set your server credentials in _deploy.rb_
# Pick packages you want to install in _install.rb_. Add another packages or modify existing ones.
# Run _sprinkle -s install.rb_ inside or sprinkle_recipes directory and follow Sprinkle instructions

h3. Drawbacks

By default you're unable to install both Git and Mercurial at a time or both MySQL and PostgreSQL at a time. However you could modify its installation recipes or install this in 2 steps.

Tested with Ubuntu 8.10 and Ubuntu 9.04
