# Setup

To get started with writing:

- Download and install VS Code

- Install the [Quarto

  extension](https://quarto.org/docs/getting-started/installation.html#installing-the-quarto-vs-code-extension)

  for VS Code

- Download this repo, either by cloning it or by clicking on green Code

  button in the top right of the GitHub repo and clicking [Download

  Zip](https://github.com/Robinlovelace/open-transport-models-developing-cities/archive/refs/heads/main.zip)

  or by following instructions on how to clone the repo (you need a

  GitHub account)

- Unzip the folder if needs be, open it with VS Code

- Convert the .qmd file into the paper with `quarto render README.qmd`

  (Ctrl+Shift+K works also)

- Edit the README.qmd file to add your content. You can edit in visual

  mode by clicking on the three dots in the top right of the editor as

  shown below, and selecting Visual Editor

# Open source tools for transport planning in developing cities

The goal of this repo is to provide a place to collaborate on a paper

about open transport tools and models for developing cities.

It is motivated by recent experience of using open source software for

transport planning.
