# ActiveRecordInCache
`ActiveRecordInCache` provides a method to execute SQL while automatically caching.
## :package: Installation
Add this line to your application's Gemfile:
```ruby
gem 'active_record_in_cache'
```And then execute:
$ bundle
Or install it yourself as:
$ gem install active_record_in_cache
## :memo: Usage
Add a line to include `ActiveRecordInCache::Methods` as below:
```ruby
class ApplicationRecord < ActiveRecord::Base
include ActiveRecordInCache::Methodsself.abstract_class = true
end
```You can call the `in_cache` method at the end of the chain.
```ruby
Article.all.in_cache
# SELECT MAX("articles"."updated_at") FROM "articles"
# SELECT "articles".* FROM "articles"
#=> [#, ...]Article.all.in_cache
# SELECT MAX("articles"."updated_at") FROM "articles"
#=> [#, ...]
```Automatically check `maximum(:updated_at)` and use the cache if it exists.
## :star: Implementation
The implementaiton is simple.
[lib/active_record_in_cache.rb](lib/active_record_in_cache.rb)
## Development
After checking out the repo, run `bin/setup` to install dependencies. Then, run `rake spec` to run the tests. You can also run `bin/console` for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
To install this gem onto your local machine, run `bundle exec rake install`. To release a new version, update the version number in `version.rb`, and then run `bundle exec rake release`, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the `.gem` file to [rubygems.org](https://rubygems.org).
