# Haproxy protocol buffer format goals

An experiment on exploring benefits of batch encoding Haproxy log lines as

protocol buffer messages for:

  * Denser representation

  * Easier parsing

# Status

*Discontinued*

The lessons learnt so far was that the space savings gains weren't that great,

and if we did store protos in HDFS any streaming jobs would have to implement a

new framing mechanism to handle these binary objects.

The Haproxy log format is quite dense and easy to parse as it stands now.
