# Linux on the Chuwi Hi12 12-inch convertible laptop



## Where have we reached?



The device can boot Linux from the pre-created remastered Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 ISO on my  [rdp-thinbook-linux](https://github.com/sundarnagarajan/rdp-thinbook-linux) repository.



Pretty much everything works (running from the live ISO) except open issues below.



I have **not** yet blown away Android 5.1 and Windows 10 and **installed** Linux on the Chuwi Hi12. I plan to do that **after** all the accelerometer issue is fixed.



### Open issues

- [Issue 1: Audio out **only** on headphones, not speakers](https://github.com/sundarnagarajan/chuwi-hi12-linux/issues/1). This model uses the ES8316 driver

- [Issue 2: Accelerometer senses the position wrong and the screen appears upside down in landscape mode](https://github.com/sundarnagarajan/chuwi-hi12-linux/issues/2). Sensing is correct in portrait mode
