Auf dieser Seite finden Sie detaillierte Nutzungs- und Installationshinweise zur Texterkennungs- und Transkriptionsplattform [eScriptorium](https://gitlab.com/scripta/escriptorium/), die als Teil des französischen Scripta-Projekts entwickelt wurde und technisch unter anderem auf der OCR-Software [Kraken](https://kraken.re/) basiert. eScriptorium ist eine **kostenfreie Open-Source-Alternative zu Transkribus** und lässt sich auch lokal auf dem eigenen Rechner installieren. Die Dokumentation wurde im Rahmen des vom [Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst Baden-Württemberg](https://mwk.baden-wuerttemberg.de/) geförderten Projekts [OCR-BW](https://ocr-bw.bib.uni-mannheim.de/) erstellt. Über Hinweise und Verbesserungen in Form von Pull-Requests freuen wir uns stets.
