# やまとうた
[やまとうた](https://yamatouta.net) (Yamatouta) is an open-source online database for [yamato-kotoba](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wago), which is like [Anglish](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linguistic_purism_in_English) for Japanese; and for [yamato-uta](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waka_(poetry)), a type of poetry in classical Japanese literature. やまとうた is the successor project of [いにしえのまなび](https://inishienomanabi.net) (Inishienomanabi), an online yamato-kotoba dictionary, which was founded in 2015. Key features from いにしえのまなび will be gradually merged into やまとうた.
This project is still in a very early stage of development.
