# Havamal Stanzas



## Daily Havamal Stanza



Welcome to the Hávamál Interactive Site, a unique open-source project blending digital humanities with cultural heritage to bring the ancient Norse wisdom of the Hávamál into the digital age. This project offers a multimedia integration of historical literature and educational technology, presenting daily stanzas from this old Norse text through an interactive web design. By focusing on themes of Virtue (Góðr), Folly (Ván), and Wisdom (Vísdómr), we aim to provide insights into Norse mythology and ethical behavior while fostering community engagement and cultural preservation. This site not only serves as a resource for literary analysis and historical studies but also embodies a commitment to tech-for-good through digital storytelling and tech collaboration. Join us in exploring this rich digital literature and contributing to a cultural-preservation initiative through open-source development.



## Features



- Displays a new stanza each day based on the current date.

- Initially shows the stanza in Old Norse.

- Allows users to toggle between Old Norse and English translations by clicking or touching the stanza.

- Old Norse translation converting to runes as well as translation to runes from English, without repeated runes, middle dots, or colons.

- Tiktok video of current stanza with Hollander Translation and a modern Humorous translatin by a late mentor of mine, Huginn. Þórr vígi.

### Possible Future Features



- Runic Writing Tool: Create an interactive tool that allows users to type in Latin characters and see them converted to runic script, with transliteration.

- Quiz or Game: Develop a quiz or game based on the wisdom found in the Hávamál to engage users and test their knowledge.

- Related Resources: Provide links to other relevant Norse mythology resources or academic papers for further reading.
